When selecting a tyre, the two main areas you need to consider are the size requirements of your vehicle and the tyre characteristics needed to accommodate your driving style and environment.
1. Size Requirements
The easiest way to determine the correct tyre size for your vehicle is to check the placard located on the driver's side door jamb, or the glove box door. You can also consult your owner's manual.
First and foremost, size is everything when it comes to choosing the right tyre. It’s imperative that you select a tyre designed to fit your wheel size and vehicle type by:
- Identifying the tyre size.
- Identifying the load index and speed symbol.
- Ensuring your size, load index and speed matches your current vehicle year, make and model.
2. Weather Conditions
Where you live and drive significantly dictates the type of tyre you need. Tyres are engineered with specific rubber compounds and tread patterns to handle different climates.
Summer Tyres

Commuting & Errands
If you primarily commute, choose based on how you want your vehicle to perform (quiet & comfortable or sporty). You may also want to consider run-flat tyres for extra peace of mind.

Work vehicles often demand higher load-rated tyres depending on whether you drive mainly highway, on-and-off-road, or have heavy towing requirements.

If overlanding, rock crawling, or aggressive mud driving is your goal, all-terrain and mud-terrain tyres are the perfect choice for superior off-road performance.
6. Longevity & Value
Longer lasting tyres can add immense value if they provide the performance required for your specific geography and operational requirements.
However, keep in mind that not all tyres can achieve the highest mileage available while simultaneously meeting extreme weather conditions or high-performance track requirements. Treadlife warranties generally provide a good indication of the mileage you can expect from your tyre choice.
Note on Staggered Sizes: If your vehicle has staggered sizes, with different sizes on the front and rear axles, the treadwear warranty will often be 50% of the standard mileage.
